Robinson & Stith Insurance: what your website, search presence and reviews are doing for you right now

We host and built robinsonstith.com, so this is the review we owe you rather than a pitch: what is working (a lot), what we found while looking closely, and what we would fix first. Where we could not verify something from the outside, it is marked to confirm.

Snapshot scorecard

Scored 1–5 from an outside-in review of robinsonstith.com, its search listings, Google Business Profile and social accounts in early September 2026.

Website

3/5

Secure, responsive and clear phone-first calls to action — but a 2025 "Vote Today!" banner is still live, the COI nav path 404s, and the Slider Revolution hero is a 2018-era pattern.

SEO

2/5

Broken title templates ("Jimmy Robinson - %"), no InsuranceAgency schema, homepage targets only "home insurance", and dozens of near-duplicate street-level pages.

Google Business Profile

4/5

4.9 stars and a deep review history in New Bern. Greenville's profile is thin, and hours disagree between the site (8:30–5) and aggregators (9–6).

Social

2/5

Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn exist and post occasionally, but nothing on the site links to them and cadence is unverified.

Tracking

2/5

Two Google Tag Manager containers fire on every page; no visible measurement of the JavaScript-embedded quote and COI forms or of phone calls.

What is working

  • Reputation is the asset. A 4.9-star rating across roughly 139 Google reviews (156 including Facebook and Insider Pages per Birdeye — count to confirm directly on Google) is exceptional for an independent agency, and "Voted Best Insurance Agency every year since 2018" is a claim almost no competitor in Craven County can make.
  • The story is real and unusual. Founded 1905, a president with the NC Department of Insurance's Order of the Guardian, a no-voicemail policy during business hours, four testimonials on the homepage. The raw material for great content already exists on the Team and personnel pages.
  • The basics hold. HTTPS-only, mobile viewport, responsive layout, clear phone-first CTAs (Call Now, Request a Quote, Submit a Claim, Request a Certificate), 18 carriers listed, two offices with addresses and phone numbers on the Locations page.
  • Google already indexes the site broadly (an estimated 60–120 URLs to confirm), which means the fixes below compound quickly rather than starting from zero.

Website findings

Ordered by what we would fix first. We can action the first three within our existing hosting relationship.

High

Certificate-of-insurance path returns 404

The nav's certificate-of-insurance link resolved to /certificate-of-insurance/ and returned a 404 during our review (the live COI form may sit at a different URL — to confirm). For a commercial-lines agency whose contractors in Greenville need COIs daily, a broken COI path is a service failure, not a web nit.

Fix: confirm the correct COI URL, 301-redirect the old path, add the COI request to the header of every page, and measure submissions (see Tracking).

High

Stale "Vote Today!" banner from the 2025 contest is still site-wide

The 2025 Best Insurance Agency voting closed October 2, 2025; the banner is still on every page in September 2026. It undercuts the "since 2018" credibility it is meant to build.

Fix: replace with a permanent "Voted Best Insurance Agency 2018–2025" badge and a dated 2026 voting banner only while voting is open, with an auto-expiry.

Medium

Quote, contact and COI forms depend on a third-party JavaScript embed with no CRM hand-off

Pages show "JavaScript is required for this content"; the vendor is to confirm. There is no visible hand-off to an agency management system, so web leads most likely arrive as plain emails — the one place the no-voicemail promise cannot reach.

Fix: native, accessible WordPress forms with a server-side fallback, routed to the AMS or a lead-routing tool with a 15-minute response target (the BICS integration concept covers this).

Medium

No blog, news or resources section — no fresh content since the March–May 2025 page edits

Eastern NC insurance search is seasonal (hurricane, wind, flood, boat) and the site has no place to answer those questions.

Fix: a Resources section with a seasonal editorial calendar (see 90-day plan).

Medium

Homepage built on Slider Revolution 6.7.58 hero slider

Functional, but a 2018-era pattern: slow to paint on mobile, and the message rotates before anyone reads it. Homepage last modified 13 March 2025.

Fix: a static hero with one headline, the two offices, one primary CTA, and the review badge (see the before/after mock below).

Low

No social links in the footer

Facebook and Instagram are active but unreachable from the site.

Fix: footer icons with UTM-tagged links, both directions.

Low

No client portal, e-signature, payment link or live chat

Not unusual for an agency this size, but each is a service touch competitors are adding.

Fix: at minimum, carrier "pay my bill" links and a "text us" option on the Contact page.

Working

SSL, canonical HTTPS URLs, mobile viewport, responsive layout, Facebook domain verification present

No action needed.

Homepage hero: before and after

A simple wireframe of the change we would make first — one message, both offices, the review badge, and the two actions that matter (quote and certificate).

SEO findings

High

Title templates are broken across the site

Search results show "Medicare Supplement Insurance New Bern, NC -", "Request a Quote -", "Team -" and "Jimmy Robinson - %": the site-name variable in the Yoast title template is empty on some pages and renders a literal "%" on others. og:title inherits the same broken suffix, so shared links look unprofessional.

Fix: repair the template (%%title%% | Robinson & Stith Insurance), rewrite the 20 most important titles by hand.

High

Homepage title and H1 target one product and no location for the brand

Title tag "Home Insurance in New Bern, NC"; H1 "Insurance with a Human Touch". The brand name and the Greenville office are absent from the single most important page.

Fix: "Robinson & Stith Insurance | Home, Auto & Business Insurance in New Bern & Greenville, NC"; keep the tagline as the sub-headline.

Medium

No LocalBusiness / InsuranceAgency structured data

No JSON-LD detected on the homepage or quote page. Two offices, hours, phone numbers, the 1905 founding date and the review rating are all eligible for rich results.

Fix: InsuranceAgency schema per office, sameAs links to the social profiles and GBP.

Medium

Dozens of near-duplicate street-level "doorway" pages

Pages such as "Insurance Rock Creek Road, New Bern, NC" repeat about 1,200 words with the street name swapped. Google indexes them today, but they are the pattern most at risk of a thin-content devaluation. Estimated 60–120 indexed URLs to confirm.

Fix: consolidate into a handful of genuine neighbourhood and county pages (Craven, Pitt, Carteret, Pamlico) with real local content; 301 the rest.

Medium

Almost no Greenville or commercial-lines targeting

Despite a physical Greenville office focused on commercial lines, there are no pages for "contractors insurance Greenville NC", "workers comp insurance New Bern", "flood insurance Craven County" or "boat insurance Oriental NC".

Fix: a Greenville office page plus six commercial-lines landing pages.

Medium

Chamber of Commerce listing points to the wrong website

The New Bern Chamber member page lists newberryinsurance.com — almost certainly a data-entry error, but it leaks referral traffic and weakens local citation consistency.

Fix: one email to the Chamber; then a citation audit of the top 30 directories for both offices.

Low

No seasonal content

Without a blog there is nothing to rank for the hurricane, wind and flood questions that dominate eastern NC insurance search from June to November.

Fix: covered in the content plan below.

Google Business Profile

What we see

Rating
4.9 (New Bern)
Reviews
~139 on Google; 156 total across Google, Facebook (6) and Insider Pages (10) per Birdeye to confirm on Google
Category
Insurance agency (BBB: Insurance Agency; Nationwide locator: Auto / Home / Commercial / Farm)
Recent reviews
Not directly observable; Birdeye's newest native review is about five years old to confirm
Greenville office
Separate, much thinner footprint (Yelp files it under Home & Rental Insurance)
Hours
Site says 8:30–5:00; Birdeye and aggregators say 9–6 — a conflict Google penalises quietly
BBB
A+ rating, not accredited; established 7/1/1905, incorporated 1974

Enhancements we would make

  • Fix hours everywhere — GBP, Birdeye, Yelp, BBB, Nationwide locator, Chamber — to match the site's 8:30–5:00.
  • Build the Greenville profile: category "Insurance agency" plus secondary categories (Business insurance, Workers' compensation), photos of the Arlington Blvd office, Jim Robinson named as the commercial-lines contact.
  • Review velocity: a QR card and a post-bind text asking for a Google review, targeting 4–8 new reviews a month across both offices; reply to every review within 48 hours.
  • Weekly GBP posts: hurricane-prep reminders June–November, "meet the team" features, Best of the Best voting window.
  • Products & Services entries for home, auto, flood, boat, contractors, workers' comp, Medicare supplement.
  • Q&A seeded with the ten questions callers ask most ("Do you write flood in Craven County?", "How fast can I get a certificate?").
  • UTM-tagged website, quote and COI links so GBP traffic and conversions show up in GA4.

Social

Current state

Facebook
facebook.com/RobinsonStithInsurance — active; posts about "Voted Best of the Best" and serving eastern NC surfaced in search. Dates and follower count to confirm.
Instagram
instagram.com/robinsonstithinsurance — posts surfaced from approximately mid-2025 to confirm.
LinkedIn
Company page exists; activity to confirm.
Gaps
No links from the website; no consistent cadence we could verify; no ad pixel visible outside GTM; the story (1905, Order of the Guardian, no-voicemail promise, 20-person team) is under-told.

Proposed 30-day posting mix

  • 3× / week Facebook, 2× / week Instagram, 1× / week LinkedIn (Greenville commercial audience).

  • Paid boost only on the two seasonal posts each month, geo-fenced to Craven, Pitt, Carteret, Pamlico and Onslow counties.

What BICS adds

Our sister analytics firm, BI Consulting Services, has drafted a sample book-of-business dashboard for Robinson & Stith — retention, renewals due by month with hurricane season overlaid, premium by carrier and office, and web-lead speed-to-first-contact — fed from your agency management system, IVANS downloads and the website forms. Paired with it is a one-page integration concept that routes every quote and COI request straight into the agency so the no-voicemail promise extends to the web. Both are attached; both use sample data until we connect to your systems.
